American History Lesson Plan- high school

  • Students would create a wiki for the class about the American Revolution. All students would contribute information that they have learned and researched and it would be used as a class resource and database.
  • Each student would individually keep a blog for the unit. In their blog, students would write, imagining life during the American Revolution. Every student of the class would come up with a question that they had about the revolution and thee questions would be drawn at random, weekly, and students would have to reflect and respond to one. Ex: What were some of the food sources used during this time?
  • The students would use Kidlink to communicate with people across the nation about the native settlers in their state. Teachers across the country can connect and share ideas. As a class, the students will create a drama representing life in their state during the American Revolution. Students will share these videos online.
  • Students will from this lesson gain a deeper understanding of the American Revolution as they are not just reading about it- instead the are becoming a part of the history and the schools and teachers are bringing it alive for the students.
